The 5th OECD MDEP Conference on New Reactor Design Activities was organized by the OECD/NEA and hosted by our Authority on April 24-25, 2023 in Antalya, Türkiye
The 5th OECD Multinational Design Evaluation Programme (MDEP) Conference on New Reactor Design Activities was organized by the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and hosted by our Authority with the theme "International Cooperation: Past, Present and Future" on April 24-25, 2023 in Antalya, Türkiye.
More than 100 executives and experts from the nuclear regulatory agencies of various countries and the nuclear industry attended the Conference. Dr. Zafer DEMİRCAN, President of NDK, delivered the opening and closing speeches of the Conference and participated as a panelist in the last session of the Conference titled "Approaches for Future Cooperation". In his speeches, Dr. DEMİRCAN emphasized the importance of international regulatory cooperation in the evaluation of new nuclear reactor designs.
On the first day of the Conference, Dr. DEMİRCAN also met with William MAGWOOD, Director General of OECD/NEA, over lunch and discussed current and future cooperation between NDK and NEA.
During the two-day Conference, information, experiences and views were shared with MDEP stakeholders on the international cooperation framework for new design, global supply chain management, key challenges for new technologies from the perspective of regulators and suppliers, and experts from NDK participated as panelists in relevant sessions.
NDK was represented by the President, Board Members, Vice Presidents, Heads of Departments, Heads of Groups and Experts during the conference, while NDK experts continued their activities in various sub-working groups of MDEP on Wednesday, April 26.
