Within the scope of his visit to Türkiye on Wednesday, May 4, Mr. Grossi had a meeting with NDK President Mr. DEMİRCAN.
Arriving in Istanbul on May 4, 2022, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Director Mr. Rafael Mariano Grossi held a meeting with Mr. Zafer Demircan, President of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NDK), and Mr. Afşin Burak Bostancı, General Manager of Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources Nuclear Energy and International Projects General Directorate and the accompanying delegation.
Mr. Grossi stated that IAEA closely follow the latest developments in Ukraine and shared information about the meetings and monitoring activities that they carried out within the scope of their visit to Ukraine.
Stating that they are in contact with both the Russian Federation and Ukraine, Grossi told that the IAEA is meticulously carrying out its work in the field of nuclear security.
Speaking on behalf of the Turkish delegation, Mr. Demircan stated that Türkiye has significant experience in radiation environmental monitoring and that technical assistance can be provided to the IAEA to ensure nuclear safety in Ukraine, if needed.
After the information exchange on the latest developments in nuclear energy and regulations in Türkiye, the meeting was concluded with mutual goodwill and wishes.
