The Technical Safety Review (TSR) Mission, a peer-review service provided by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to its Member States, was hosted by the Nuclear Regulatory Authority of Türkiye (NDK) from 4 to 15 May 2026 at the NDK headquarters in Ankara and at the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant site, for the review of the Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) documentation submitted within the scope of the operating licence application for Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant Unit 1.
During the mission, assessments were conducted in accordance with the IAEA Safety Standards by three technical officers from the IAEA and eight experts from international organizations. Within this framework, technical sessions were held with the participation of NDK experts, representatives of Akkuyu Nükleer A.Ş. and experts from the design organization. On the final day of the mission, the draft mission report containing the review team's recommendations was submitted by the IAEA to our Authority.
